The first step in the getting started process is to learn about our Orientation course. Please read the following carefully:
- What is it?
The Rowan Online Orientation course is Rowan's formal training for students on how to use our online technologies. It also covers expectations, policies, related technology systems, and other information that is important to first time students. The orientation course is fully online and self-paced (which means you take it and complete it on your own with out due dates). You will be given access to all of our online software tools with an opportunity to test your computer and devices (i.e. tablet and/or smartphone) for compatibility. Most students will complete the training in about 2 hours time (total - the course does not have to be completed in a single sitting). Some students may spend more time than others completing the course.
- Why take it?
The Rowan Online Orientation course is our definitive training offering for all students taking courses with online content. If you choose not to participate or complete the orientation course, you have the right to do so. However, if you choose not to participate or complete the course, you do so
AT YOUR OWN RISK.
- When & where?
The course is offered in our Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). The same system that hosts your online courses. You will be able access the course once you are able to Log into the Portal (look for Orientation on your Dashboard page). The orientation course should be completed prior to the start of your first CGCE course that uses online learning technologies.
- Who teaches it?
The course is not taught by an live instructor, nor is any of your work in the course actively reviewed, but students will have an opportunity to post questions and contact technical support for assistance.
